THE STARTING POINT
The challenge of bringing rapid diagnostics to the point of care
miDiagnostics set out to bring molecular testing beyond traditional laboratory environments with its ultra-fast PCR technology, designed to deliver results in approximately 15 minutes.
To bring this concept into clinical practice, the company needed a software solution that could connect the diagnostic equipment, manage the testing process, and give healthcare professionals a clear, reliable way to operate the system.
EffectiveSoft joined the project to develop the software connecting the diagnostic technology with its users, translating complex testing procedures into an intuitive, guided experience.
PRODUCT ENGINEERING
Bringing hardware and software together
EffectiveSoft developed a Windows-based software platform that connects the PCR reader and point-of-care station within a unified workflow for healthcare professionals.
The software manages communication between system components, validates sample and PCR card identifiers, controls test execution, and presents diagnostic results through an intuitive interface.
By integrating these components into a single solution, the team helped turn miDiagnostics' testing technology into a functional point-of-care system designed for use beyond traditional laboratory environments.
USER-CENTERED DESIGN
Designed for the realities of clinical practice
EffectiveSoft worked closely with the miDiagnostics team, becoming an integral part of the product development process. The engineers translated real-world clinical needs into practical design and engineering solutions, ensuring the software was built around the people using it.
The team developed an interface with guided testing steps, high-contrast visuals, glove-friendly touch controls, and multimodal notifications to support operation across different healthcare environments.
During hospital-based testing, healthcare professionals evaluated the point-of-care station in simulated workflows. Their feedback revealed challenges with audio alerts, screen readability, and barcode scanning, informing further refinements to the user experience.
This iterative approach helped align the software with the practical demands of clinical environments.
PRODUCT EVOLUTION
From a single testing concept to broader diagnostic possibilities

What began as a solution for ultra-fast PCR testing evolved beyond its original application as miDiagnostics expanded the use of its diagnostic technology.
EffectiveSoft's involvement in the initial product development brought together hardware integration, software engineering, and user-centered design, establishing the software experience needed to operate the diagnostic system in point-of-care environments.
IMPACT
The engineering behind a new standard of care
EffectiveSoft helped miDiagnostics bring its rapid testing technology into a fully integrated point-of-care solution, connecting diagnostic equipment, software, and clinical workflows.
Working as an embedded engineering partner, the team developed the software that manages the testing process, connects system components, and guides healthcare professionals from sample identification to results. Combined with user-centered design and hospital-based usability testing, this work helped make complex diagnostic technology practical for use beyond traditional laboratory settings.
